Confocal Raman Microscope
Our Renishaw inVia Raman confocal microscope can be used for precise depth profiling and compositional analysis of samples and small objects. It is equipped with a Leica DM2700 optical microscope and two excitation lasers (785 and 532 nm). The system operates both at normal and high confocality modes, allowing for the characterisation of the chemical composition of the materials, chemical mapping, and detailed profiling of transparent and semitransparent layers.
Spectra are recorded over an extended range of 200–3600 cm⁻¹ with a grating of 1200 or 1800 lines/mm according to the laser line used, and a thermoelectrically cooled CCD detector, offering a spectral resolution of 1 cm⁻¹ per pixel (functional resolution of 3 cm⁻¹). To enhance spatial resolution, we can use different objectives: 5×, 20×, 50×, and 100×.

Potential results
The Confocal Raman microscope is highly effective in analyzing the chemical composition of colorants, including inorganic pigments as well as various natural and synthetic dyes and pigments. Its high-precision motorized stage enables detailed micro-mapping of samples and small objects, generating comprehensive chemical maps. Advanced software capabilities facilitate multivariate analysis of chemical data, providing deeper insights. Additionally, its high-confocality objectives support in-depth analysis of transparent and semi-transparent layers, making it a versatile tool for material characterization.
