MOLAB INO at work in Naples

On June 17th, 2021 the Museo e Real Bosco di Capodimonte opened its doors to the public to show MOLAB diagnostic tools at work on paintings’ by Titian. Raffaella Fontana, Jana Striova and Marco Raffaelli applied the Optical Profilometry on the “Portrait of Pope Paul III” to analyse the weft and the Optical Tomography to take measures of paintings’ layers in the “Maddalena”.

The live format was an incredible opportunity for the public to appreciate the importance of science in knowing, interpreting and safeguarding cultural heritage.

The researchers also met the Italian Minister of Universities and Research, Ms Cristina Messa, and showed the diagnostic tools at work while discussing the results of the first analyses obtained with her.
