MOLAB in Oslo

In September 2021, MOLAB started again. The Heritage Science Group moved to the Munch Museum in Oslo. The conservator scientist, Irina Sandu, won the access to the IPERION HS MOLAB facilities to study the color changes in some paintings created by Munch between 1907 and 1908.

Munch’s paintings are suffering poor adehsion, water sensitivity, pronounced cracks and especially color changes in the red and blue areas. Blue are becoming deeper and red lacks are turning into brown. The Heritage Science Group took the Multispectral Scanner VIS NIR to contribute to a better understanding of the conservation problems.
